Georgia Southern men's basketball has added Texas State transfer guard Dontae Horne to the 2024-25 roster, head coach Charlie Henry announced.

"I'm excited to add Dontae to the team, he's a guy we were very familiar with from his time at Texas State," head coach Charlie Henry said. "He has league experience and has proven that he can play well in the league, especially his last three games against outstanding teams last year. He's a great fit for this team, he has a great ability to play with the ball in his hands and break down the defense. We addressed an area of need by getting a talented guard in Dontae."

Horne, a 6-4 guard from Memphis, remains in the Sun Belt and joins the Eagles for his senior season after spending a year in San Marcos, averaging 6.5 points per game, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Last season, he appeared in 31 games, starting one, shooting 40 percent from the field. He 67-of-90 (74.4%) free throw attempts and totaled 41 assists, 21 steals and one block.

Saving his best stretch of games for the Sun Belt Championship, Horne was a big part of the Bobcats' miracle run to the semifinals as the 11 seed, averaging 11.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in the five games. His 20 points and seven rebounds against Southern Miss were career marks.

Horne came to the Bobcats through two junior colleges, spending two seasons at Eastern Oklahoma State and one at Howard College. Over the three seasons at the NJCAA level, Horne averaged 13.4 points per game, 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists, shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from three.

Horne played at Kirby High School in Memphis. During his junior year, he averaged 16 ppg, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
