Tragic accident claims life of pedestrian on Highway 301 South

A man tragically lost his life after being struck by a car while attempting to cross U.S. Highway 301 South on Friday evening outside of Statesboro, GA in Bulloch County. The incident occurred around 9:14 p.m. near Buddy's Truck Stop, located at 8741 South U.S. Highway 301.

Bulloch County 911 quickly dispatched multiple emergency units to the scene, including Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputies, Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Troopers, Bulloch County EMS, and Bulloch County Fire. According to Sergeant Robbie Scott of GSP Post 45, the man was in the process of crossing the highway when the unfortunate collision occurred.

Bystanders and first responders on the scene immediately provided medical assistance to the injured man while awaiting the arrival of EMS. Despite their efforts, the man was later transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are currently working to identify the deceased hispanic male believed to be in his late 20's. The Georgia State Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash.
