GS Men’s Basketball sets 2024-25 roster

After a 9-24 record in the 2023-24 season, Georgia Southern men's basketball has revamped and retooled their roster for the upcoming season.

The Georgia Southern men's basketball team announced its roster on Tuesday, which features nine newcomers and seven returning players.

THE RETURNERS

Seven players will return to the roster from last season's team that made it to the Sun Belt Quarterfinals. Starters Eren BanksAvantae Parker and Eugene Brown III return to the lineup, while Nate BraffordCollin KuhlLuke Keller and Tyler Bush round out the familiar Eagles. 

Banks is the leading returning scorer at 10.2 ppg, and the Eagles will have 43 percent of their points from 2023-24 coming back to the team.

THE TRANSFERS

Bice-Peace Men's Basketball Head Coach Charlie Henry bolstered the rotation by adding five transfers, including one that will remain in the Sun Belt conference. First-time Eagles are Bradley Douglas (Little Rock), Dontae Horne (Texas State), Adante' Holiman (UTSA), Nakavieon White (National Park) and Tyson Brown (Rhode Island).

Douglas averaged 10 ppg with the Trojans last season, and White was the NJCAA Region 2 Player of the Year while at National Park. In Texas State's trip to Statesboro last season, Horne scored 12 points.

THE FRESHMEN

Henry also signed three freshmen to the 2024-25 roster. Braylhan Thomas (Atlanta), Micah Smith (Tyrone, Ga.) and Langston Boyd (Charlotte, NC) will be appearing at the collegiate level for the first time next season.

NEW NUMBERS

Two Eagles will be wearing numbers that have never been donned before at Georgia Southern. White will wear #7 and Keller will wear #8, the first wearers in team history.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

The Eagles will have five Georgia natives on the roster this season, all from different towns: Thomas (Atlanta), Brown III (Conyers), Smith (Tyrone), Banks (Eatonton) and Keller (Suwanee) will all be playing in their home state.
