Even 97 degree heat didn't deter hundreds from coming downtown for the City's 2nd Downtown Live FREE Downtown concert series. The Grapevine Band brought out the huge crowd, which filled the courthouse lawn and East Main Street, to enjoy a night out downtown.
The Grapevine Band took the stage at 6 PM and played till 8 PM. Everyone loved the hits, all were perfect to dance to and dancing the crowd did. Nothing like dancing in the street on a Thursday night.
Olympia Gaines, Assistant to the City Manager was thrilled with tonights event. Olympia is leading the coordination for the four concert series downtown. She noted that they added more food trucks, added more accessible parking in front of City Hall along with golf cart shuttles to the main stage area. All of these tweaks were welcome improvements over the first concert.
Downtown restaurants also reported a spike in business Thursday evening and enjoyed the opportunity to introduce their businesses to new customers as well.
She noted areas in which they will improve for the next concert, the Swingin' Medallions, which is a week away on July 6th.
Layne Phillips, Public Information Officer for the City expects a record crowd for the Swingin' Medallions based on social media response and feedback from citizens.
Make plans now to come out to the third in the Downtown Live concert series featuring the Swingin' Medallions on Thursday, July 6 at 6 PM downtown.
