MEET ALEXIS AGNEW

Alexis Agnew was born and raised in Bulloch County, and is a Portal Middle/High School alumni. She is currently a senior at Georgia Southern pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Philosophy. She also serves as a member of the Honors College and as an Honors Ambassador. After graduation, Alexis plans to attend law school with the hopes of becoming an attorney. She currently works as a legal assistant at a local law firm, Hall & Navarro. She plans to take with her to law school all the fruitful knowledge and skills she has learned during her time at the firm.

Although it has been awhile, Alexis is no stranger to the stage, as she spent most of her childhood and teenage years dancing, participating in pageants, and cheerleading. Her love for dance has continued, though, so when given the opportunity to support Safe Haven in this year’s Dancing with the Statesboro Stars, she could not help but say yes.

Alexis is cheered on by her fiancé, Dlyen Baker, and their two fur babies, as well as friends, family, and coworkers. In her free time, she can be found at the lake, spending time at home with her family, or organizing, as she is known to be the “organization queen.”

Being a Statesboro native, Alexis is very passionate about the community, so she is very excited to be representing and supporting such an amazing organization like Safe Haven. She is thrilled to be on this year’s cast of Dancing with the Statesboro Stars, and she cannot wait to bring a great show to the audience and make lasting memories in the process.

MEET PAUL SCHWERTFEGER

Paul Schwertfeger has been proud to be a Dancing with the Statesboro Stars Pro for the past three years! He first began his dancing career with the video game series, Just Dance. For the past five years, he has been one of USA’s top scorers and competed in the National Finalists across the country. Some of his favorite performers are Mehdi Kerkouche, Jerky Jessy, Julianna Huerra, and Celine Baron (to name a few) and he has dug more into their original creations. Among his family and friends, he is now known as the “Energizer Bunny” of the show. Dancing with the Statesboro Stars helped him become creative in his own ways and let his love of media and production come to life. It is all about entertaining the audience, and he also loves to form lifelong relationships with his fellow dancers.

Outside of the dancing world, Paul graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Middle Grades Education, obtaining certification to teach math and social studies. Currently, he is teaching 6th grade math in his hometown. Over this past summer, he has been an adult leader of Candler County’s 4-H at Camp Wahsega and his neighborhood pool community. Along with his other educators, Paul hopes to instill a classroom climate of dedication, work ethic, and teamwork for life outside of the classroom. He always wants his students to become the best versions of themselves, giving them the confidence and willingness to succeed.
