Tormenta FC’s W League battles to a draw with Carolina Ascent

The South Georgia Tormenta FC Women's League now has a 1-0-1 record against the Carolina Ascent on the season so far. They hit the pitch again on Tuesday at home.

South Georgia Tormenta FC’s W League fought to a draw against Carolina Ascent with a 1-1 score on Saturday, June 8 in Davidson, North Carolina.

South Georgia last clashed with Carolina Ascent Sunday, June 2 at home, where Tormenta clinched victory with a 3-2 score.

Tormenta FC maintained a heavy level of possession from the sound of the first whistle, making a multitude of attacking plays in search of the opening goal. Both sides saw early opportunities, but the scoresheet remained stagnant until less than ten minutes prior to halftime. 

A cross was sent by Briana Eads from almost 25 yards out to Courtney Chochol, who slotted the ball past Carolina Ascent’s keeper to give Tormenta the lead.

With only six days between Tormenta’s last face-off with Carolina Ascent, keeper Jenna Moran had her sights set on protecting the goal with tenacity for this second clash. Moran made a pivotal save in the 34th minute of play, diving to save the shot and preserve the score. 

Just moments into the second half, Carolina Ascent found its first goal of the evening following a corner kick, leveling the match. 

The match was a tale of two halves, with each side striving to outperform the other for the entire 90 minutes. Ultimately, the score remained 1-1 until its closing, as neither side found a second goal to bolster the score.
