Ecoplastic job fair focuses on growth and opportunities for the community

Ecoplastic America, a leading manufacturer of plastic automobile parts, hosted a job fair on August 14 to provide immediate job opportunities for local residents. The event was held at the Georgia Southern CPE building on 301 South, making it easily accessible to Statesboro and Claxton, and drew plenty of interest from the community.

Recently, Ecoplastic America held its fifth hiring event in August, a job fair aimed at adding talented new staff members to their growing production team.

"We're hoping to offer on-the-spot job offers and results and answers for applicants for job opportunities, whether they're interested in our injection molding department, paint department, assembly, production control, or quality control, to gain an idea where their interest lies, so we can help facilitate a position that they are desiring," said Kevin Campbell, Talent Acquisition/Public Affairs Manager from Ecoplastic. "It's important for us to place people in positions where they have both the skill set and desire to grow, potentially into leadership roles within the company."

Ecoplastic currently serves as a tier-one supplier for HMGMA, specializing in the production of plastic components such as bumpers, consoles, and trims. The company's reputation for quality and its strong relationship with its clients have been built over years of successful collaboration.

Campbell expressed optimism about the turnout for the job fair, expecting between 50 and 100 attendees and hoping to fill 20 to 40 positions over the upcoming weeks. The company chose the location for its convenience, making it easier for people to drop by during their lunch breaks or after work without the hassle of navigating busy city centers.

"We wanted to provide an opportunity that was closer and more accessible, something that would attract a diverse group of people," Campbell noted. "We have interviewers who speak fluent Korean and Spanish to ensure that language barriers don't inhibit anyone from applying."

The event also highlighted Ecoplastic's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. "We want our company to be a melting pot, welcoming people from all backgrounds and cultures," Campbell said. "Our goal is to create an environment where innovators, experts, globalists, challenges and doers can come together to achieve their dreams or goals."

Past hiring fairs for Ecoplastic have been successful, with events in Claxton resulting in 20 to 30 job offers. The company also hosts open interviews most Tuesdays from 2pm to 6pm at their downtown office located at 25 Siebald Street, Statesboro, GA, where applicants can receive immediate feedback and potentially a job offer on the spot.

When asked about the challenges in the hiring process, Campbell acknowledged the competition from other companies in the area, particularly as the automotive manufacturing industry is relatively new to the region. "One of the biggest challenges is finding the best fit for each candidate, especially as many people are new to the auto industry," he explained.

Despite these challenges, Campbell believes that the growth opportunities at Ecoplastic are a significant draw for potential employees. "People are excited about the chance to start as a team member and the opportunity to move up to and grow from within to a potential team lead, supervisor, or other positions as we continue to expand," he said.

Campbell concluded by expressing his gratitude to the community for their support. "We can't do this without the community, without the partnerships we've built with local institutions like OTC, GSU, Evans, Candler and Bulloch County Schools. Their support allows us to grow and expand like we are." He also added that the power of word of mouth is phenomenal. They have given so many job opportunities due to who knows who.

Ecoplastic's commitment to the community and its focus on providing growth opportunities for its employees were on full display at their job fair, signaling a bright future for both the company and the local workforce.
