The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets football team held a public scrimmage against themselves to show fans a little of what they can expect this upcoming fall on Friday, May 17.

Fans got to enter Fred Shaver stadium for free to watch a live practice for the football team. The offense and defense competed against one another in an untimed game with referees. The special teams also got to put in some work in front of the live crowd.

Head Coach Jared Zito was pleased with his team's performance in the scrimmage. "We got a lot of work to do. but that is what spring practice is for," Zito said. "Overall, I saw lots of good things. We'll evaluate the film, make sure we get the guys in the right places, make sure the 1s are the 1s and the 2s are the 2s."

He told his team that they want to win their region so that they can host the state playoffs. "The last two years we've been really young and played in a really hard region," Zito said. "I'm really excited, I have high expectations for our guys they're a really good group. We got some talent and we got some depth and that's what we really need to look at."

The Yellow Jackets are coming off of a 4-6 season and are looking to turn things around this season. Southeast Bulloch has moved to the AAA Region 3A for this season of sports. Previous years, the Yellow Jackets had a very tough region schedule. This season should be different as they move to what should be a weaker region.

"So far I think we are 2-0 right now," Zito said. "The off-season and spring practice are both wins."
