Jeff Blythe, who has served in various roles at Georgia Southern since 2007, has been named the Senior Associate Athletics Director of Athletics/CFO of the Department of Athletics, as announced Thursday by Director of Athletics Chris Davis. Blythe returns to athletics after serving as the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services and Executive Director of Administration across campus since 2018.
"I am honored and blessed to be returning to the athletic department," Blythe said. "My family and I are thrilled to be back. I want to thank Chris Davis and Ryan Hall, as well as everyone who made this possible. I am looking forward to serving our outstanding student-athletes, coaches and staff."
Prior to joining the Auxiliary Services team, Blythe was the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations for the Eagle Athletics Department.
"We are excited to welcome Jeff Blythe back to Georgia Southern Athletics as our new Senior Associate AD/CFO," Davis said. "With 15 years in the athletic industry and nearly 20 years at Georgia Southern, Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. His elite business acumen, ability to develop impactful relationship with coaches and staff, paired with his deep understanding of our university's ecosystem and culture, make him the perfect fit to help lead us to continued success and help to strategically navigate this ever-changing collegiate landscape."
Blythe came to Georgia Southern in April of 2007 after three years at Elon University, where he served as the Assistant Business Manager, Ticket Manager and Summer Camp Coordinator. Blythe also worked for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association as an Assistant Director of Championships in 2004.
He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina, where he served as a men's basketball team manager, and graduated with a master's degree from Appalachian State in 2003.
Blythe and his wife, Fay, have two children, Tyler and Brady. Fay is the lead school nurse and parent mentor for special education in the Bulloch County School System. Tyler is an all-state trumpet player and a starter on the tennis team at Statesboro High School. Blythe also serves as an elder and chair of the finance team for Southbridge Community Church in town.
The move is effective April 1, 2025.
