NaJ Watson named Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Year, five eagles named All-Conference

Watson is preparing to compete for a chance to race in the NCAA championships.

Several Eagles racked up Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field postseason awards, the league announced on Friday.

NaJ Watson was named Outdoor Performer of the Year, high point scorer and to the All-Sun Belt First Team, while four Eagles - Lauren EulerSofia MolinaImani Moore and Alanna Smith - were named to the Third Team.

Watson, who was named to the All-Sun Belt Outdoor Second Team, earned Performer of the Year outright after her performance at the SBC Outdoor Championships, where she carded a score of 19.5 to lead the field.

She claimed the 200m crown at the SBC Championships, heading to regionals for the second straight year in the event. She broke the 100m (11.41) and 200m (23.19) program records during the championships, winning the preliminary heat in the 100m.

Euler, Molina, Smith and Moore earned third team honors for their performances in the 4x400m relay throughout the year, setting the top two times in program history during the Florida Relays in March.

Moore finished in third place in the long jump at the championships, as her 12.60m jump placed her second in school history, while Alanna Smith placed fourth in the 400m.

Watson, Moore and Smith will compete at the NCAA Preliminary Round in Lexington next weekend.
