Morris Kirkland

Mr. Morris Kirkland, age 76, passed into rest, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center.

The Bulloch County native was the son of the late Robert and Lillie Mae Williams Kirkland. He received his formal education in the Bulloch County School System and was a 1965 graduate of the William James High School.

"Marvin" or "Sonny" as he was affectionately known, was a retired employee of the Bulloch County Board of Education. He was a member of the Brannen Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as president of the Usher’s Board.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Terry Eason.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joann Lanier Kirkland, Statesboro, GA; a son, Robert M Kirkland of Houston Texas, daughters, Trina Kirkland, Orlando Fl, Gemini Kirkland, Boston Mass, Phyllis Natasha Kirkland, Orlando Florida, Elizabeth Calhoun and Boston, Mass; two stepdaughters, Teresa Lanier Anderson, North Carolina, Andrea Nicole Lanier, Statesboro, Georgia and Tracie Gamble, Boston, Mass;  a stepson, Pervis Lambert Lanier, Statesboro GA; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hill's Mortuary.

Mr. Kirkland will lie in state at the church on the day of service from Noon until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.

The funeral service for Mr. Kirkland, will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Brannen Chapel United Methodist Church with the pastor, Rev. Kenneth Griffin, officiating, Burial will follow in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his memory.

Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
