Georgia Department of Transportation announces a four-day road closure in conjunction with Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing improvements on State Route (SR) 307 near Robert B. Miller Road in Chatham County.
SR 307 will be closed at the railroad crossing and traffic detoured from 7 a.m., Monday, Oct. 23 through 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26. Norfolk Southern Railroad crews will install the road closure with a detour in place as vehicular traffic cannot cross the railroad tracks during this work.
The roadway will reopen early if the work is completed ahead of schedule or could possibly be closed longer if weather delays the work. Motorists will be able to access businesses, schools and residences in the area up to the work zone.
The detour route will be signed as follows:
- SR 307 Northbound traffic will begin detour at the intersection of SR 26/US 80 turning right on SR 26/US 80. Turn left at the intersection of SR 26 Connector. Turn left at the intersection of SR 21. The detour ends at the SR 21 intersection at SR 307 turning right on SR 307.
- SR 307 SB traffic will begin detour at the intersection of SR 21 turning left on SR 21. Turn right at exit 8 onto SR 26 Connector. Turn right at the intersection of SR 26/US 80 onto SR 26/US 80. End detour at the intersection of SR 307 turning left onto SR 307.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the detour route. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
