Goodwill Southeast Georgia has announced a week of free career development workshops and events at its Statesboro Opportunity Center, ending with a Career and Resource Fair at the Statesboro Mall on Saturday, May 3.
These events are designed to empower individuals in their job search and connect them with valuable resources and local employers. See details on the week of events below.
- The week kicks off on Monday, April 28th with "Sweet Career Exploration - Setting SMART Goals" sessions at 10:00am. Participants will learn how to define and achieve their career objectives through effective goal-setting strategies. An additional session will be held at 3:00pm on the same day.
- On Tuesday, April 29th at 10:00am, Goodwill will host a comprehensive "Resume and Cover Letter Workshop, 60 Sec Pitch and How to Dress" session. This interactive workshop will provide attendees with the tools to create impactful resumes and cover letters, craft a compelling 60-second professional introduction, and understand the importance of dressing for success. Another session will be offered at 3:00pm.
- Wednesday, April 30th will feature a "Vision Board Workshop" at 10:00am and again at 3:00pm. This engaging workshop will help participants visualize their career aspirations and the resources available at the Opportunity Center to help them achieve their goals.
- Goodwill will celebrate its past successes on Thursday, May 1st from 3:00-5:00pm with a "Client Appreciation" event, inviting all previously employed clients to reconnect and celebrate their achievements.
- Friday, May 2nd marks the highly anticipated On-Site Reopening of the Statesboro Opportunity Center. Throughout the day, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, the community is invited to visit the center and learn about the wide range of free services offered, including training programs, job readiness assistance, and scholarship opportunities.
As an added incentive, attending any of the events from April 28th to May 2nd will grant participants early access to Saturday’s big job fair!
The week concludes with a Career and Resource Fair on Saturday, May 3rd from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Statesboro Mall. This event will connect job seekers with over 30 local employers and resources, including representatives from Georgia Southern University, Bulloch County Recreation, Coca Cola, Ogeechee Technical College, Bulloch County Schools, and the City of Statesboro, among others.
