Former Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has written a children's book titled Veto, The Governor's Cat in honor of his late wife, Sandra.

Ogeechee Tech will host a signing of the new book at the Venues at Ogeechee Technical College (20 Joe Kennedy Blvd., Statesboro GA 30458) on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 3-5pm. The singing will take place in the atrium of the Jack Hill Building.

Deal made technical education a priority during his time in office, so his appearance at OTC is a nod to the importance of lifelong education.

As Georgia's First Lady, Sandra Dunagan Deal traveled the state and, quite impressively, read aloud to children in every single county and school district in Georgia. She was known for the joy she found in reading and for her love of people, especially children. She passed away in 2022 at the age of 80.

Her legacy lives on today through the Deal Foundation Fund, with the guidance of The North Georgia Community Foundation. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this new book will be donated to the foundation to support projects, initiatives, and scholarships related to her legacy.

The book is the Governor's first published literary work.
