Statesboro will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events from January 11th to 20th, 2025.

The celebration will kick off with a prayer breakfast on Saturday, January 11th, at 9am at the Williams Center (74 Georgia Ave., Statesboro) on the Georgia Southern campus. The breakfast is sponsored by the Bulloch NAACP Youth Council and the Georgia Southern NAACP and will raise funds for the Youth Council. Tickets are $25 and available via Bulloch NAACP members.

The breakfast will be followed by a church service the next day on Sunday, January 12th, at the Elm Street Church of God (29 Elm St., Statesboro).

On Saturday, January 18th, there will be a parade in downtown Statesboro starting at 1:00pm, followed immediately by community conversations at City Hall. Grice Connect plans to livestream the parade.

Applications for the parade are available at Craig Tremble Funeral Home and Hill's Mortuary, or you may apply online here. The cost is $30 to enter the parade, and payments may be made via PayPal (@BullochCountyNAACP).

The celebration will conclude with a Day of Service on Monday, January 20th, where volunteers will be helping out at the Statesboro Food Bank (506 Miller St., Statesboro).
