The Exchange Club of Statesboro will host its annual community picnic at the 7th Mile Farm on Saturday, April 8, from 10am-2pm. An Easter egg hunt will take place at 11am. The club will offer attendees a full day of family fun including food, drinks, activities, games, and more -- all free of charge. Despite the weekend forecast, the organizers are looking forward to continuing this yearly tradition of family and community fellowship.
The fun and free event takes place each April in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. According to the National Exchange Club:
The prevention of child abuse became Exchange’s National Project in 1979, at the 61st National Exchange Club Convention.
To uphold its National Project, Exchange provides a variety of public awareness materials designed to help inform and increase awareness of child abuse and how it can be prevented. Such projects are implemented through Exchange Clubs and Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers across the country. Through the scholarly-reviewed Exchange Parent Aide home visitation model, child abuse prevention experts work directly with at-risk families.
Exchange was the winner of a Presidential Award from the White House Office of Private Sector Initiatives, is a charter member of The National Child Abuse Coalition, and is a Partner in Prevention with the Children’s Bureau, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
