STATESBORO, GA — The Statesboro Alumnae Chapter and Xi Eta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in partnership with the Bulloch County and Georgia Southern Chapters of the NAACP will host a candidate forum on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 6 PM until 8 PM in the Georgia Southern University Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
This non-partisan forum is free, open to the public and will be moderated by the Rev. Dr. Francys Johnson. The purpose of the forum is to provide candidates with an opportunity to introduce -- and, for the incumbents, re-introduce -- themselves to the community and hear about issues that are important to area residents.
Candidates from the following contested offices have been invited to participate:
- Statesboro City Council District 1: Tangie Reese-Johnson, John Grotheer, and Ken Jackson
- Bulloch County Coroner: Craig Tremble and Chuck Francis
- Bulloch County Commissioner District 1, Seat A: Ray Mosley and R. Ryan Brannen
- Bulloch County Commissioner District 2, Seat C: Leonard “Len” Fatica and Nick Newkirk
- State House of Representatives, District 158: Madeline Ryan Smith and Butch Parrish
- US House of Representatives District 12: Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson and Rick Allen.
Early voting begins Tuesday, October 15 through Friday, November 1, 2024. Early voting locations include:
- Georgia Southern University Russell Union (Statesboro Campus), 85 Georgia Avenue (October 22-24) - Open to faculty, staff, students, and all registered voters in Bulloch Co.
- Bulloch County Annex, 113 North Main St., Ste 201 (Oct. 15-Nov. 1; Closed Oct. 20 & 27)
- Downtown Statesboro Development, 64 East Main St. (Oct. 28-Nov. 1)
