On Friday, January 31 at Willow Pond Senior Care in Statesboro, the residents celebrated an activity filled with fun, fellowship, and a touch of glamour!
Embracing the spirit of fancy and flirty, they prepared for Valentine’s Day. The room buzzed with joy in preparation for a ‘glamorous’ Valentine’s gift. Each resident created a masterpiece that is sure to bring smiles to their loved ones.
Sara Chandler, Life Enrichment Director at Willow Pond, invited Jackie Cox, Community Liaison/Navy veteran with Bridge Hospice, to help residents create the perfect Valentine’s present. Bridge Hospice is a locally owned and operated agency with a goal to provide compassionate care and support for patients and families with love and dignity.
Cox’s job is to educate, build relationships, and do activities in a way to incorporate fun, while educating and getting to know everyone, including staff on the front lines and families.
"This activity delivers fun, fellowship, and joy using props and decorations to create Valentine's treasures,” Cox shared.
“Jackie provides a friendly face and great activities for our residents," Chandler added.
The residents posed in front of a Valentine's set, having their pictures taken and working the camera, turning these photos into glamour shots. This activity helped residents create the perfect Valentine's gift for their families and offered a boost in confidence.
“They were honored, loved, and pampered. The results were amazing! Smiles for miles,” Cox shared happily. "What an incredible feeling it is to engage with seniors from all walks of life. They have stories to tell, wisdom to share, more life to be lived and enjoyed. These folks have given so much care and love to their families and now it is our turn to do that for them.”
