Researchers at Georgia Southern University’s Institute for Water and Health have launched a collaborative pilot project in Marion, Alabama, to address aging water infrastructure, promote workforce development, and advance environmental justice through community-based research and training programs.

Crystal Anderson, an Adult Opportunity Coach from WorkSource Georgia, recently visited Ogeechee Technical College’s Financial Accounting class to inform students about the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program and its services, including tuition assistance.

The Ogeechee Technical College Foundation is pleased to announce a $50,000 endowment from the Rockin’ Out Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation to support academic scholarships for students pursuing Health Sciences degrees, with two scholarships awarded annually.

The University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine & Health Sciences has appointed Dr. Jacob C. Warren as the new director of its Center for Rural Health, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience and a strong background in rural health research to the role. Warren was the founding co-executive director for the Rural Health Research Institute at Georgia Southern University.

Gov. Brian Kemp announced the formation of a new commission under the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to develop high-demand career pathways and credentialing strategies, aimed at aligning education with workforce needs in the rapidly growing Southern region.

Four eighth-grade students from Bulloch County have earned $10,000 college scholarships as the newest REACH Georgia Scholars, a state initiative supporting students from lower-income families to attend and graduate from college. The program has now helped make college possible for 62 local youth.

The Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is making a significant impact in the local community with a $10,000 donation to the Southeast Bulloch High School chapter of the National FFA Organization. The contribution is meant to reflect Hyundai’s commitment to education, innovation, and fostering the next generation of leaders in agriculture and technology.

The Bulloch Board of Education held their last regular meeting of 2024 on Thursday December 12, following the signing ceremony of the new cohort of REACH Scholars.
