South Georgia will take on USL Championship side Charleston Battery at 7:00pm May 8 on the road in the 109th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

This team heads into the postseason on a seven-game winning streak.

The Eagles record improved to 26-21. They will wrap up a four-game road trip with a Wednesday night game at Jacksonville.

Nine home matches, a home exhibition against Florida, and a trip to Hawai'i highlight the slate. The Eagles are coming off of a 2023 campaign that saw Georgia Southern achieve the highest RPI in program history.

Smith, a 6-8 forward out of Tyrone, Ga., had initially committed to James Madison before a coaching change and will instead return closer to home to play with the Eagles.

With this win, the team is ranked #2 in the state in AAAA. The Lady Yellow Jackets will advance to the State Championship in Lagrange on May 20.

The Top Four Athletes are the ones who advanced to Sectionals.

Bulloch Academy finished the season with a 6-6 record. The non-region schedule for the Gators was a guantlet that included a couple top of the teams in Georgia.  

Kaiser earned the honor for the first time in his career. He had at least one RBI in every contest the Eagles played this week, and his 11 hits were the most for any Eagle this week.

The Lady Jackets have had a phenomenal season so far and have made school history with making it to the Final Four.
