Statesboro, GA – Monday, March 31, 2025, 4:05 PM EDT – The National Weather Service in Charleston, SC has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Bulloch County and several surrounding counties in southeastern Georgia. The warning is in effect until 5:00 PM EDT.
The affected counties include Bulloch, Candler, Evans, Jenkins, Screven, and Tattnall counties.
At 3:59 PM EDT, radar indicated severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from approximately 12 miles north of Herndon to 30 miles west of Gordonia Altamaha State Park. These storms are moving east at a speed of 45 mph.
The primary hazard associated with these storms is damaging winds, with gusts expected to reach up to 60 mph. Residents in the affected areas should be prepared for potential damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
The warning specifically includes the following locations: Statesboro, Metter, Millen, Sylvania, Butts, Portal, Collins, Cobbtown, Hiltonia, and Pulaski. Interstate 16 between mile markers 96 and 118 is also under the warning.
The National Weather Service advises individuals in the affected areas to seek immediate shelter inside a well-built structure and to stay away from windows until the warning expires. These thunderstorms have the potential to produce significant wind damage.
