Tornado Watch Issued for Several Areas in Georgia and South Carolina including Bulloch

The National Weather Service in Charleston, South Carolina has issued a tornado watch for parts of Georgia and South Carolina. This watch includes Statesboro and Bulloch County, GA and will remain in effect until 1:00 PM EST Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, South Carolina has issued a tornado watch for parts of Georgia and South Carolina, including Bulloch County, GA. The watch will remain in effect until 1:00 PM EST Sunday afternoon, December 29,2024.

The following counties are included in the watch:

  • Georgia: Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Jenkins, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Screven, Tattnall
  • South Carolina: Allendale, Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton, Jasper

This watch includes the cities of Statesboro, Savannah, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort, Charleston, North Charleston, Summerville, and many others.

What to Do During a Tornado Watch

  • Be aware and stay informed. Monitor weather reports from the National Weather Service and local news outlets.
  • Pay attention to warnings. A tornado warning means a tornado has been spotted or indicated by radar and is threatening a specific area. Take shelter immediately if a warning is issued for your location.
  • Have a plan. Know where you will go if a tornado warning is issued. The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement or an interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building.
  • Assemble an emergency kit. Include items such as bottled water, non-perishable food, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, and a battery-powered radio.
