Three Eagles have earned All-Sun Belt Conference women's tennis honors, as announced by the league this afternoon. Junior Silvia Martinez and freshman Ana Tsitavets earned All-Conference singles honors, while Martinez and graduate student Liv Ryan earned All-Conference doubles honors.
It is the second time in program history that three Georgia Southern student-athletes have earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors, joining the 2021 squad.
Martinez earns first-team All-Conference singles honors for a second straight season. The Barcelona, Spain, native becomes the first Eagle to earn first-team All-Conference honors twice from the Sun Belt. Playing the No. 1 singles position for much of the season, Martinez went 14-3 in dual match singles with a sparkling 7-1 mark in Sun Belt play. She defeated fellow first-team honoree Kylie Moulin of James Madison, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, to help the Eagles knock off the Dukes and hand JMU its only Sun Belt loss of the season. Six of her seven Sun Belt wins came in straight sets as well.
Tsitavets, meanwhile, earns second-team All-Conference singles honors and becomes the first Georgia Southern freshman to earn an All-Conference honor from the Sun Belt. The Minsk, Belarus, native has played at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Eagles all year long as a true freshman, compiling a stellar 9-1 mark at No. 2 singles, including a 6-1 mark in Sun Belt play. Her only singles loss of the Sun Belt season came to Sun Belt Player of the Year Tatsiana Sasnouskaya of Old Dominion.
Martinez teamed with Ryan to earn second-team All-Conference doubles honors, going 5-1 in Sun Belt play this season, all at the No. 1 spot. The duo won five straight matches from March 18-April 2 at No. 1 doubles, winning against Troy, Texas State, Louisiana, Southern Miss and South Alabama.
