Last week's "Battle for Bulloch" saw Statesboro High host Southeast Bulloch in a successful day for the Blue Devils, highlighted by the highly anticipated girls' match that lived up to the hype, pitting the Statesboro Lady Blue Devils (19-2) against the SEB Lady Yellow Jackets (16-2).

Statesboro's Lorelei Prosser and Nellie Watanabe secured an early lead with a strong doubles victory, followed by Naomi Feltman's dominant singles win. After SEB responded, Maxine Feltman's decisive singles victory clinched the overall match for Statesboro. The highlight was the thrilling first doubles match, where Statesboro's Annalia Small and Lindsay Collins rallied from a first-set loss to secure a hard-fought three-set win. The Lady Devils improved to 20-2 and will host Villa Rica in the first round of the state playoffs.

The Statesboro boys also dominated their competition, securing a decisive victory. Xavier Deckard continued his undefeated streak with a commanding singles win, while Davis Hall and Tyler Blythe also earned comfortable singles victories. In doubles, Asher Hodgin and Luke Watanabe, along with Sean Kim and Carter Copeland, both secured swift wins. The boys' team improved to 15-6 and will also host Villa Rica in the first round of the state playoffs.
Both Blue Devil teams will be back in action for the first round of the GHSA AAAAA State Tennis Championships on Tuesday, April 22, at Mill Creek with the girls team starting at 1 pm, and the boys immediately after.
