GREENSBORO, N.C. - Georgia Southern third baseman Jarrett Brown was named an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Finalist, the organization announced on Tuesday, June 18.

Brown had his best fielding season since 2022, fielding at a .960 clip from the hot corner in 53 games this season. Brown had a total of 49 putouts and 118 assists, matching his career-high from the 2022 season. Of the 43 double plays Georgia Southern turned this season, Brown was involved in nine. Since mid-April, Brown's defense was rock-solid at third base, only surrendering a single error after April 19, 2024.

Jarrett Brown finishes his Georgia Southern career as one of the best Eagles to play third base, etching his name in the GS record books with the third-most triples in a career with 11 after hitting three this season. Brown also improved his approach at the plate this season, taking 32 walks and striking out 47 times, down from 58 times in 2023 and bringing his OB% to a career-high of .418. Brown is tied for second on the Eagles team with 27 RBI in conference play, just one off from the team lead.

Brown is the first Eagle to earn the Finalist honor since shortstop Austin Thompson earned the honor after the 2022 season.

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove is awarded to the top defensive players at each position in all levels of collegiate and high school baseball. The ABCA and Rawlings announced the Gold Glove winners for each position on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 via Rawlings' social media channels. The award for third base ultimately went to Wyatt Peifer of James Madison University, but Brown's Finalist honor remains an impressive achievement.
