Georgia Southern head women's soccer coach Chris Adams has announced the Fall 2024 schedule for the Eagles. Nine home matches plus an exhibition against SEC foe Florida, as well as a regular season-opening trip to Hawai'i highlight the slate.
The Eagles are coming off of a 2023 campaign that saw Georgia Southern achieve the highest RPI in program history, narrowly missing out on an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships. This year's schedule features seven opponents that finished in the Top 75 of the RPI and three teams that advanced to the 2023 NCAA Championships.
"I'm really happy with the schedule we have put together for the Fall," Coach Adams said. "We start out by hosting Florida at home for an exhibition on Saturday, August 10. We will be challenged in our non-conference schedule with games versus Hawaii and Pepperdine opening weekend, It's nice to play some new opponents and especially when you open up at the University of Hawai'i!"
Following the Florida exhibition, the Eagles will make a first trip to the Aloha state on Thursday, August 15 to take on the Rainbow Warriors and also NCAA Championships participant Pepperdine on Sunday, August 18 in Honolulu.
The Eagles will then have three straight matches at home, hosting Kennesaw State on Thursday, August 22; Mercer on Thursday, August 29 and Furman on Sunday, September 1.
A trip to North Florida on Thursday, September 5, is followed by a home date with Jacksonville State on Sunday, September 8. The Eagles will then take on Washington State on Thursday, September 12, in a neutral site match to be played at the University of Georgia. The non-conference slate ends with a date at Samford on Sunday, September 15.
Georgia Southern opens up Sun Belt play with alternating home and away games, beginning with Appalachian State at home on Sunday, September 22. The Eagles travel to Arkansas State on Thursday, September 26, then return home to host Coastal Carolina on Sunday, September 29.
October opens for the Eagles at Marshall on Sunday, October 6, and Georgia Southern will also play at NCAA participant and Sun Belt champion Old Dominion on Thursday, October 10. The Eagles host NCAA participant James Madison on Sunday, October 13, and South Alabama on Friday, October 18.
The regular season slate concludes with the Eagles playing at Georgia State on Thursday, October 24, a home date with Southern Miss on Sunday, October 27, then a road date at Texas State on Wednesday, October 30.
"Our schedule has a very nice stretch of home games, playing some of the tougher Sun Belt conference opponents with James Madison, South Alabama, and Appalachian State here at Eagle Field," Coach Adams said. "Our group is poised to make 2024 a great season and we hope to have a huge home field advantage when the Fall rolls around. Come out and see the upgrades to the facility and get behind our women's soccer program who represent Eagle Nation proudly! Hail Southern!"
