GS Baseball falls to Mercer on Wednesday night

The Eagles will host Marshall for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series starting on Friday, April 26.

The Georgia Southern baseball team fell in the second game of a two-game midweek series to the Mercer Bears, 18-3, on Wednesday night in Macon, Ga.

The Bears (21-18) accumulated a 16-0 lead before the Eagles (20-21) responded in the top of the fifth inning.

In that inning, JD Kaiser got the Eagles on the board with a RBI-single to right field, bringing home Sam BlancatoCorey Dowdell followed that up with a RBI-double that took a high bounce over the third baseman, bringing home Kaiser and Jarrett Brown to put three runs up for the Eagles.

The Bears took two runs back in the home half of the fifth inning to run the score up to 18-3, the eventual final.

Fred Wilson took his first win of the season with 4.2 innings of work, while Ty FIsher fell to 5-5 on the year.

Blancato led the offense with a 2-for-3 night, scoring a run as well. Kaiser, Dowdell, Daniel HaabCade Parker, and Sylas Boris also registered hits on the night.
