Willow Pond seniors tee off Masters week with festive celebration

While golf fans across the country tuned in to the Masters in Augusta, residents at Willow Pond Senior Care brought the tournament spirit home with a lively, Masters-themed celebration of their own.

On Friday April 11, 2025, while the spirit of the Masters was in full swing in Augusta, Georgia, the Cottages at Willow Pond hosted a Masters-themed celebration at Willow Pond Senior Care.

Hostesses were cottage residents Fay Foy Franklin, Donna Skinner, Joyce Mazzarelli, as well as Cottage Coordinator Donya Moore and Cottage Concierge Debbie Sullenger.

Many residents of Willow Pond Senior Care have a long history with the Masters -- some 38+ years. That tradition came to life during the special Masters-themed celebration. Residents and staff gathered for a fun, spirited celebration honoring one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments.

“Here at Willow Pond, many of our families still travel to Augusta annually to watch the Masters, a tradition that has been started by their parents (our residents). For those who can’t make the trip, we bring the Masters to them. It’s a wonderful way to reconnect, reflect, and share those special memories with loved ones,” added Sara Chandler, Life Enrichment Director.

Each participating resident enjoyed a day filled with putting games, delicious refreshments, and a golf cart photo booth. The energy was high and the cheers and laughter were loud; you could feel the fun!

Chandler shared, “It was good for the residents because it allows them to enjoy the pleasures they once were able to attend, but may not be able to any longer.”

Themed treats made the day even sweeter, including a “hole-in-one” Jello dessert (with a marshmallow center in green Jello), gold ball milk chocolates, candy golf balls, powdered donut holes, Cheez-Its, lemonade, and green punch. Golf-themed party plates and gift bags set the scene!

“Whether long-time golf fans or new to the sport, everyone enjoys the chance to join in on the excitement of Masters week,” concluded Moore..

These Seniors were definitely bringing spirit to the green!
