It is with great sorrow, we announce the passing of Rex Miller, Jr., 83, of Statesboro on November 1, 2024.

He was born in Statesboro on September 18, 1941 to Rex Miller, Sr. and Edna Thompson Miller.

Rex was a 1959 graduate of Statesboro High School and a 1965 graduate of Georgia Tech where he obtained a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his time at Georgia Tech, he co-oped. After graduation, Rex became a Professional Engineer and worked in Atlanta for five years before returning to South Georgia to his farming roots and settled in Jenkins County. He enjoyed the farming life for several years before returning back to Atlanta to work in his field of study. He worked at Scientific Atlanta and Rockwell International/Boeing. In the 1990s, while at Boeing, Rex worked on the guidance system for the Patriot Missile. This missile was used in the Gulf War. Rex retired from Boeing and returned to his birthplace, Statesboro, Ga. During his early retirement, he taught Mechanical Engineering classes at Georgia Southern University and mathematics at Ogeechee Technical College.

Rex had a love for antique tractors and enjoyed restoring them. Through the years, many have witnessed him and his family members driving these tractors in various parades. Also, he enjoyed traveling abroad with his family. However, the things his family will remember the most is his sense of humor and love of music.
