Mr. John Willie Hill, age 84, of Statesboro, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, June 22, at his home surrounded by his family after an extended illness.
John was born in Bulloch County to the late John Henry Hill and Evelyn Owens Hill.
John graduated from William James Hill School and later worked for Georgia Power, where he retired after 37 years of dedicated service. An avid farmer, John continued farming with his brother Amos Hill even after his retirement. John had a deep passion for farming, fishing, hunting, spending time outdoors, and cherishing moments with family and friends. He enjoyed participating in Turkey Shoots at the New Sandridge Community Club and was a very active member of Magnolia Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth DeVoe Hill, and his siblings, LD Hill, Susie Mae Clifton, Thomas Hill, Ben Samuel, and Roger Hill.
His cherished memories will forever be held by his family: Abbie Hill, Jonathan Hill, Amos (Rosetta) Hill, Janie Hill, and Naomi Owens. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, including Isrea Grey, Willie Robinson, and Allen Washington.
The family will receive guests for the family visitation on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Harry J. Tremble, Jr. Pastor; Rev. Dr. Francys Johnson, Officiating
Interment will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens in Statesboro.
