Clinton Wade Lewis, of Claxton, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.

Born in Claxton on October 7, 1939, he was the son of Wade Lewis and Ethel Kennedy Lewis. He was a devoted parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah.

In his early working years he was employed by Sears and then Georgia Ports Authority.  For many years, he co-owned and then owned The Squire Shop in Claxton, where he showcased his clothing lines to his customers. His professional career also included roles at Belk and Macy’s.

An avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Lewis enjoyed watching professional football and basketball and cherished his annual trips to the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta. He had a special place in his heart for his pets, who brought him joy throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Lewis and Louise Lewis Crosby.

Surviving are his nephew, Gary H. Crosby, and his wife, Linda; his niece, Yvonne C. Donaldson; his great-niece, Niki C. Gladin, and her husband, Kerry; and his great-nephews, Brian Hendrix and his wife, Melisa, Adam Hendrix and his wife, Jennifer, and Stephen Crosby and his wife, UnChu.

Funeral Services
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Metter. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Brewton Cemetery.
