September 9, 1943 - May 6, 2024
Mr. Carl Judson Crews, 80, of Sylvania passed early Monday Morning, May 6, 2024 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 9, 1943 in Sylvania, GA to George and Eva Scott Crews. He spent his career in food service retail sales and retired as manager of Piggly Wiggly in Charleston, SC. He was a member of the Middleground Baptist Church, and had served in various capacities and committees when his health permitted, and served faithfully for over fifty years as a Mason and Shriner. He loved horses and bulldogs and had raised both on Crews Farm in Screven County. He and his wife were also avid travelers, he always enjoyed the scenery out west. Most important of all, he was a loving husband and Papa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Eugene Crews.
He is survived by his wife, Judie Lee Crews, children, Tara (Jason) DeJesus, Caleb Crews, Megan (Brandon) Roach, stepchildren, David Creighton, Lee (Laurie) McKinney, and Julie (Jeff) Moeller, eight grandchildren, brothers, Harold Crews and Tommy Crews, and his sisters, Shirley Hill and Debbie Rooker.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2024 at the Middleground Baptist Church in Sylvania at 2:00pm with Rev. Dr. Charlie Cooper and Rev. Pete Wall officiating. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at the North Newington Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Troy Bohannon, Gary Crews, Chuck Kite, David McKinney, Mark Bazemore, and Joe Cicerella.
Honorary pallbearers will be fellow Sunday School Class members, Redo Brinson, T.W. Evans, and Brian Bohannon.
