The Garage Fitness commemorated fallen heroes with the Murph Challenge on Memorial Day 2024 from 5:30am to 11:00am.
Lt. Michael Murphy was a SEAL Team member who lost his life in 2005 during "Operation Red Wings" in Afghanistan. Every Memorial Day, gyms across the US do a hero workout to honor fallen service members like Lt. Murphy.
"We do these workouts in memory of these men and women and thank them for their service so we have our freedom," said Christina Gipson, Garage Fitness owner and coach.
The Murph Challenge consists of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another mile run.
This year, The Garage had 57 participants including gym members and their family and friends. There were seven heats with seven to ten people going at a time.
There were special modifications of the workout suitable for diverse ages and fitness levels. At the end of each workout, everyone enjoyed Rolly’s Taqueria’s tacos.
The Garage’s vision is to provide a diverse and safe place for people to work out, fellowship, and cultivate a passion for health and fitness. The Garage’s mission is to provide unparalleled access to fitness, health, knowledge, friendship, and a supportive environment.
