SPD ask for help locating a Statesboro man wanted for Thursday shooting

A man already wanted on felony warrants is now being sought in connection with a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in Statesboro. The victim, a 55-year-old man, is hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg.

A 55-year-old man has been transported to Memorial Health after being shot in the upper leg Thursday afternoon, January 9, 2025. Statesboro Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a Flock gunshot detection alert on a dirt lot on Pine Street at approximately 4:23 pm.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim with a gunshot wound and provided medical aid until Bulloch County EMS arrived. The man was then transported to airlifted to Memorial Health in Savannah. Thankfully, his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Detectives investigating the scene identified the suspected shooter as 57-year-old London Bell of Pamela Way, Statesboro. Bell was already wanted on prior felony warrants and now faces additional charges of Aggravated Assault in connection with this incident.

Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between the victim and Bell.
