Please see an update from Bulloch County EMA on the current road situation as of 9am, Tuesday, August 6. PLEASE STAY OFF THE ROADS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
Bulloch County Public Works is currently responding to road conditions as much as possible. There are multiple areas with washouts and standing water. Drivers have become stranded after they tried to pass through standing water.
A summary of the current situation includes:
- 40-50 roads affected (water over the road at some point)
- 50-75 trees across the road (mostly cleared)
- 5 trees on houses
- Approximately 10 power lines down
See lists of affected roads below. The county expects more ancillary roads to be reported with damage as people start traveling this morning.

- BURKHALTER RD FROM 5CHOP TO MAGNOLIA CHURCH
- NEVILS DAISY FROM INDIGO HILL TO 1471 NEVILS DAISY
- ASH BRANCH FROM LOGGINS TO SEED TICK
- ASH BRANCH CHRUCH FROM LAWRENCE CHURCH TO BURNSED RD
- NEVILS DENMARK / 46 – ROAD IS STARTING TO CAVE IN
Roads that will be closed shortly:
- SINKHOLE FROM BURKHALTER TO 46 – ROAD IS STARTING TO CAVE IN
- PROSSER RD FROM SPRING CREEK TO STILSON LEEFIELD
- LAKEVIEW RD IN THE AREA OF COLEMAN CREEK

- KELLYS POND / UNION CHURCH – WASHED OUT
- CYPRESS LAKE / CITY LIMITS OF REGISTER – WASHED OUT
- 940 PROSSER RD
- BROOKLET DENMARK / CROMLEY
- GOLF CLUB / BURKHALTER
- NEVILS DAISY / ANDERSON
If you know firsthand of a blocked or washed out road, PLEASE either Facebook direct message Bulloch County EMA the location (include road name and an intersection or some locator on that road), or call Bulloch County Public Works at 912-764-6369.
This will help the County keep the list current and get the information to crews who are responding as quickly as they safely can.
Remember: "Turn around, don't drown." Do NOT try to drive through standing water!
