The Button, a local organization dedicated to discreetly providing personal hygiene products to Bulloch County students since 2022, is once again preparing to support students in need during the summer months. The organization is currently collecting essential hygiene items to pack Summer Bags for an estimated 1,456 Bulloch County students identified by school counselors as having the greatest need.
These thoughtfully prepared bags are designed to provide a two-month supply of personal care items, ensuring that students have access to necessities even when school is out of session.
The Button is putting together both "Boy Bags" and "Girl Bags," which will include items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, soap, chapstick, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and body wipes. Girl bags also include feminine hygiene products and ponytail holders.
See a full list of needed items on the flyer below.
The Button is making it convenient for the community to contribute to this important cause. Donations of the listed items can be dropped off at several locations across Statesboro, including:
- The Button, 515 Denmark Street, suite 2500
- Visit Statesboro!, 222 S. Main St.
- Dish and Lily Statesboro, 721 S Main St, Suite 5
- Merle Norman Salon & Spa of Statesboro, 26 W Main St.
- Statesboro Family YMCA, 409 Clairborne Ave.
In addition to collecting donations, The Button is also calling on the community to lend a hand in assembling the Summer Bags. A packing event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30th at 6:00pm at The Kiwanis-Ogeechee Fairgrounds.
Volunteers are welcome to come and help ensure these essential supplies are ready for distribution.
The Button encourages the community to share this initiative and spread the word to maximize the impact and reach as many students in need as possible. This collective effort will help ensure that students in Bulloch County can maintain their hygiene and well-being throughout the summer break.
