On Wednesday, October 18, the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair hosted a few special needs groups and centers for a morning of fair fun. Some of the local groups included Pineland and High Hope Adult Day Care Center, with other smaller groups attending, as well.
"This is a program we do each year," said Connie Saunders, Kiwanis Fair Committee Member.
Attendees got a special fair experience consisting of a cowboy show, a trapeze act, a puppet show, and pig races.
Chick-Fil-A of Statesboro catered the special occasion, preparing meal boxes for the midday lunch.
"We have a group from Statesboro and a small group from Glennville here today. We also have a few autistic children that are home-schooled here as well. Each year these groups come out for a morning of fair fun. Many of these groups cannot function out here at night with the large crowds, so this morning fair show ends up being their fair each year," Saunders added. "Overall, this is a wonderful program, and I've seen some of these High Hope patients for 5 or 6 years now. Each time they love and appreciate all of the festivities."
