A Southeast Bulloch High School student is seeking community support as he prepares to compete at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference this summer.

John Thomas Kile, an active FBLA member, recently earned a spot at the prestigious national competition, which will take place June 28 – July 3, 2025, in Anaheim, California. Kile qualified after excelling in the Management Information Systems and Journalism categories at the state level.

John has been involved with Grice Connect since August 2024. Over the past year, he has served as a sports writer, primarily covering Southeast Bulloch's football team throughout the season and into the playoffs. In addition to sports coverage, he has written articles on various local events.

John is also a member of the Bulloch County Sheriff's Explorer program.

He has been an active member of FBLA for a year now. Through the organization, he has attended several events and competitions, allowing him to build friendships and network with business leaders. FBLA has helped him develop skills in public speaking, problem-solving under pressure, and professional communication, particularly in making formal business decisions.

“This national conference is an incredible opportunity for me to enhance my leadership, networking, and professional skills while representing my school and community,” John said.

However, the trip comes with significant expenses, including travel, lodging, and registration fees. To make the experience possible, Kile is seeking sponsorships from local businesses and community members.

"John is a remarkable young man and represents everything that is great about our community and education system.  I encourage you to join me and the Grice Connect team in supporting John financially in making this dream come true for him in competing on a national level and representing our community with pride," said DeWayne Grice, Founder/Publisher of Grice Connect.

How to Support

Sponsors will not only help a dedicated student achieve his goal but also contribute to the development of future business leaders in the community. As a token of appreciation, Kile has offered to recognize sponsors through his local FBLA chapter’s announcements, social media, and conference-related materials.

Anyone interested in supporting Kile’s journey can contact him directly at [email protected]. Additionally, his FBLA advisors, Randy Lee ([email protected]) and Kacie Craig ([email protected]), are available for further information at Southeast Bulloch High School.

Donations can be made via check (payable to SEBHS FBLA) or cash. Checks and cash may be coordinated through email at [email protected] or dropped off directly at the school.

Any level of support is greatly appreciated.

“I sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to representing our community at the FBLA National Leadership Conference,” John Kile said.

About FBLA

Future Business Leaders of America is a national student organization dedicated to preparing young people for careers in business and leadership. Founded in 1940 by Dr. Hamden L. Forkner of Columbia University, the organization has grown into one of the largest career and technical student organizations in the world, with over 200,000 members across middle schools, high schools, and colleges. The first FBLA chapter was established in 1942 at Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee. Today, FBLA is made up of four divisions: FBLA Middle School, FBLA High School, FBLA Collegiate, and the FBLA Alumni & Professional Network.

FBLA’s mission is to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through career preparation and leadership experiences. Members participate in a wide range of activities including academic competitions, community service projects, and leadership conferences at the regional, state, and national levels. Through more than 70 competitive events, students can explore areas such as public speaking, marketing, business ethics, financial literacy, coding, and job interviewing. These experiences help members build real-world skills while expanding their professional networks.

By bridging the gap between the classroom and the workplace, FBLA plays a vital role in helping students explore business careers and grow as leaders. Many alumni credit FBLA with shaping their confidence, career goals, and personal development. Whether through officer roles, internships, or service projects, FBLA offers meaningful opportunities for students to lead, learn, and succeed.
