According to the hosts,

(IRCWCC) is a hobby that builds 1:144 scale radio-controlled models of WWI and WWII era warships. These ships are built with balsa wood and made to sink if enough holes are shot into their hulls.

They are equipped with CO2 powered bb-cannons in the main turrets, and battles take place in ponds or small lakes across the country. In the course of the battles, ships are sunk (and retrieved) and score is kept. Frequently, the teams are divided into Axis and Allies, but sometimes flag/no flag.

The annual National Competition is highly competitive and takes place in different cities around the country. This year, Statesboro is the location. At the National Competition, awards are given based on overall battle success, best/ realistic model, use of new technology, etc.

Learn more about the competition below!

The community is welcome to come watch some of the battles and learn more about the hobby during Friday's finals. Safety glasses are required, but there will be a box for people to borrow and return the glasses as they enter the roped-off areas.
