This past weekend, after a long absence, Fix-It-Friday was held downtown along with the relaunch of the Fab Lab.
Fix-It-Friday is part of the Greener Boro Commission initiative that partners with Georgia Southern University BIG. They offer free repairs on various household items. Lissa Leege, of the Greener Boro Commission says, "This helps to keep broken items out of the landfill and encourages sustainability and innovation."
Fixers included Frank D'Arcangelo for general repair, Syrin Johnson for jewelry, Brit McKay for sewing, and Andrew Michaud for bikes.
Some of the items repaired included a chain saw, a countertop dishwasher, several bicycles, and lamps. Several mending repairs, jewelry fixes, and more rounded out the evening.
Demos included blacksmithing with Jim Walker, 3D printers, Fab Lab equipment for woodworking, and two robotics teams from Georgia Southern and the community.
Community members also enjoyed live music from Dan Larkin while getting repairs and watching demos from the Fab Lab.
Stayed tuned to the City of Statesboro's Facebook page for more upcoming Fix-It-Friday events.
