Christy Smith, AgSouth Director of Marketing & Communications has earned the Honorary American FFA Degree, the highest honor of an FFA supporter. She received her degree on October 25, 2024 at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. 223 individuals nation-wide earned the Honorary American Degree at the convention with eight recipients coming from Georgia.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Christy Smith for receiving the prestigious Honorary American FFA Degree. This award reflects her dedication to agriculture and her commitment to excellence,” states AgSouth’s Chief Administrative Officer Sarah Rachels. “Christy's contributions have made a lasting impact through her service on the Georgia FFA Foundation Sponsors Board, and throughout her career at AgSouth Farm Credit.”
Christy grew up on her family’s cattle farm in Metter, Georgia which gave her an early appreciation for agriculture. After pursuing her degree in Marketing from the University of Georgia, she worked in the marketing industry for several years before coming to AgSouth Farm Credit. For the last 16 years, Christy has supported agriculture and FFA at both the local and state level through sponsorships and volunteer efforts. Her nomination came largely as a result of her work on the Georgia FFA Foundation Sponsors Board.
The National FFA Organization relies on the support of exceptional teachers, individuals and companies to provide life-changing experiences for its members. Each year, individuals who have made outstanding contributions to National FFA are honored with the Honorary American FFA Degree.
