Bulloch County Animal Services recently received a total of $13,800 in grant funding from Best Friends Animal Society.

A grant of $10,000 will go towards the promotion of pet-microchipping in Bulloch County. This technology will help Animal Services identify a lost pet found by BCAS staff or brought to the shelter. This grant will give staff members the training and equipment they need to reunite lost pets with their owner and to place and register new micro-chips.

In addition, Best Friends Animal Society awarded an additional $3,800 to fully cover expenses for two staff members to attend the organization’s national conference. The conference provides valuable training and resources to help Animal Services implement best practices in pet care and adoption.

The Best Friends Network is made up of thousands of public and private shelters, rescue groups, spay/neuter organizations, and other animal welfare groups — all working to save the lives of dogs and cats in communities across the country.

The Bulloch Co. Animal Shelter/Animal Control is committed to providing excellent services to the citizens and animals of all of Bulloch County. The department provides temporary shelter and care to unwanted personal, strays, neglected or abused animals, as well as promote public safety thru our Humane Enforcement Division.
