2024 Catie's Gathering

CURE Childhood Cancer, the only organization dedicated to supporting local children with cancer and funding pediatric oncology research, invites the community to come together for an evening of inspiration, celebration, and hope at the Annual Catie's Gathering in Statesboro. The sold-out event will take place on Saturday, March, 15th at 6 p.m. at The Market in downtown Statesboro (228 S. Main St., Statesboro, Ga.).

This heartwarming event is held in memory of Catie Wilkins, a courageous young girl who bravely fought and lost her battle with pediatric cancer.

Special for 2025, Beth Boswell, mom of 13-year-old bone cancer (osteosarcoma) survivor Michael, will be the evening's keynote speaker, sharing her and Michael's inspiring journey. Local to the Statesboro area, the Boswell family resides in Screven County.

Catie’s Gathering promises a memorable evening with meaningful moments and enjoyable activities, including:

  • Live Music: The event will begin with live music from Brent Stephens, setting a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere.
  • Cocktail Reception and Dinner: Enjoy a delectable menu catered by Blue Mile Catering amidst elegantly themed table decorations, with the head table beautifully decorated by Frazier's Flowers.
  • Keynote Address: Hear the powerful and personal story of Beth Boswell and her son Michael, a cancer survivor.
  • Purse Raffle: There is an opportunity to win a Saint Laurent clutch in this year's raffle and you do not have to be present to win. More information can be found here.
  • Growing Community Support: The success of this event in years past is credited to Jody Polk and her dedication to CURE. This year's event is being led by a dedicated group of five local ladies, Kimberly Sharpe, Anna Waters, Lauren Groover, Lauren Davis, and Beth Boswell, ensuring the event's continued success and expanding CURE's reach in Statesboro.

“This year's event is particularly impactful as three local children in the Statesboro area have been diagnosed with cancer in the last nine months,” said Jenny Wilkins, Development Director of Events for CURE Childhood Cancer in South Georgia. “Every dollar raised directly translates to tangible support for these families, and drives groundbreaking research, giving these children and their families the hope for a brighter future. We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and guests who make this event possible.”

Childhood cancers differ from adult cancers in how they grow and spread, how they are treated, and how they respond to treatment. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children in the United States, with over 17,000 children diagnosed every year. Yet, only six drugs have been developed specifically for childhood cancers in the past 25 years. CURE Childhood Cancer is addressing this disparity by funding innovative research and providing hands-on support to families affected by pediatric cancer.

With your support, the vision of a world without childhood cancer is closer than ever. Join us for an unforgettable evening as we honor lives, celebrate hope, and fuel the fight against pediatric cancer.
