Aldebaran Outdoors, based in Statesboro, has announced that it will now host the Canoochee River Paddle Race, which was formerly managed by Ogeechee Riverkeeper. The race is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2025.

The race will take place along approximately eleven miles of the Canoochee River, and the finish line will include a presentation of awards, food trucks, live music, and other entertainment. Any and all are welcome to come cheer the racers on and to enjoy a day out by the river.

Paddlers of canoes, kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards will be eligible to compete within two divisions: single and tandem categories. Any paddlers who are entering for fun will trail behind the competitors and enjoy a scenic float on a beautiful spring day. All participants will receive a laminated number for their vessel in order to identify racers on the water

Aldebaran Outdoors has a limited number of kayaks and canoes that are available for rent at an additional cost. Please email [email protected] for more information regarding rental information. Personal flotation devices are required for each participant.

Entry is limited and pre-registration is required. The deadline to register is Thursday, April 17, 2025, at midnight.

If you are coming to spectate, it is a good idea to bring along a folding camp chair.
