7th Mile Farm completes Activity Center and begins Caretaker Lodge

The 7th Mile Farm recently completed its Activity Center thanks to a generous donation. This completion allows the 7th Mile Farm to start building a Caretaker's Lodge for the long-term maintenance and sustainability of its grounds. A recent donation has allowed the 7th Mile Farm to finally complete its new Activity Center.

With this major project complete, Fostering Families has turned its attention to building a Caretaker's Lodge. The lodge will house the organization's future facilities manager who will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and upkeep of the facilities.

The 7th Mile Farm began eight years ago when it acquired 30 acres of land, and today, has grown into an exciting summer camp for foster care children.

The farm consists of cabins, a dining hall, a rock wall, a fishing pier, and so much more. Last year, the farm welcomed 90 children into its annual summer camps, which were focused on providing fun experiences to foster care children while sharing the love of Christ with them.

The 7th Mile Farm now represents about a third of Fostering Families' outreach efforts around the region.

Since the farm's core buildings are finished, the next step is to build a Caretaker's Lodge, which is to house the future Fostering Families facilities manager. This individual will be tasked with maintaining the facilities as well as providing sustainability to the organization's long-term mission.

"In an effort to build sustainability into the 7th Mile, we have embarked on building a Caretaker's Lodge," stated Chris Yaughn, CEO at Fostering Families, Inc.

"This lodge would house someone in charge of providing an on-site presence with regards to maintenance and upkeep. The Caretaker's Lodge is a critical component to the long-term success of the 7th Mile Farm."
