This Thursday evening, July 13, the Averitt Center for the Arts will hold the opening reception for its annual Statesboro Regional Art Association juried art exhibition. The opening will be held from 5:30-7:30pm in the main gallery at 33 E. Main St., and refreshments will be served. The event is free to the public.
Affinity to Nature is a juried exhibition featuring original works that examine the natural world.
Works in the exhibition will explore nature from landscape to flora and fauna to the human figure and beyond. This exhibition will celebrate the magnificent power and beauty of nature. A variety of interpretations on the theme were encouraged to include works that are representational, abstract, or conceptual.
This year's juror is the Telfair Museum's Anne-Solène Bayan, an assistant curator with plenty of her own achievements.
Last year's Best in Show winner was Lawrence Smith with his painting of Linville Gorge, and Penny Marz's Big Dreams won the Roxie Remley Award. This year's winners will be announced on opening night.
