South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced its intention to play its first game from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium on Oct. 1, 2022. Phase one of the state-of-the-art stadium development is nearly complete.
The opening of Tormenta Stadium is a watershed moment for the City of Statesboro and South Georgia. Tormenta Stadium will create jobs and economic activity and spur more business and growth in Statesboro and across the region. The stadium will also serve as a concert venue and can host other outdoor events.
The club has made strides toward growing the game of soccer locally and making Statesboro an entertainment destination in South Georgia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
Tormenta FC is determined to build on the success of other soccer-specific venues across the United Soccer League to create the best possible fan experience at Tormenta Stadium. The club aspires to create memorable experiences for everyone in the region.
Stadium development
As the stadium development project moves into phase two, fans and followers of the club can expect the facility to feature luxury suites, a multi-functional gym for players, a restaurant and craft brewery by Eagle Creek Brewery, and a team merchandise store.
In addition to League One matches, the Optim Sports Medicine Field will host W League matches for Tormenta FC, League Two matches for Tormenta FC 2, USL Academy matches, and both the Georgia Southern University Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I soccer teams.
Tormenta FC will play the final home match of the regular season against the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Oct. 15 at Tormenta Stadium. Tormenta FC will also be able to play any home playoff games at Tormenta Stadium.
Tickets
To ensure the best fan experience at Tormenta Stadium's inaugural USL League One game against the Richmond Kickers on October 1, the club will limit the capacity of the venue for this game. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
Fans can also purchase season memberships and Flex Ticket packages in advance.
