Bulloch County’s acting training officer was recently recognized by the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC).

Mitch Sikes was presented with a Chief Fire Officer designation at an awards ceremony on Oct. 1 during the GAFC conference in Columbus.

“Congratulations to Mitch for continuing to lead by example and showing us that hard work does pay off,” said Bulloch County interim fire chief Ben Tapley.

To earn the designation, Sikes met specific prerequisites and completed several hours of training.

The program aims to ensure that departments have qualified, credentialed, and professional leaders and managers overseeing their departments and personnel.

During the conference, Sikes also attended classes about leadership and management and escorted Mrs. Darrol Brazil to the annual Firefighter Memorial.
