The Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County will be holding their monthly meeting and open house on Monday, January 16th from 7-8 pm. It will be held at the newly renovated Adoption Center located at 107 N. College Street next to ReTails Thrift Shop. All are welcome. (This date was rescheduled from January 9.)

Carrie Mitchell, Spay/Neuter Coordinator and Secretary of the Humane Society, hopes Open House will be a great way for the community to see the new adoption center. There will be light refreshments, options to tour the new space, and cats (and we love cats!).

The topics discussed will be rescue, fostering, the spay/neuter program, the community cat program, and more. Later in the year, the meetings will have speakers covering different topics such as wildlife rescue, dog training, and how to acclimate new pets into homes. Carrie says that in a future meeting, a spay-neuter resident expert will discuss the community cat program and will demonstrate how to use the different types of traps correctly. All are welcome to attend the Open House.

The Humane Society is always looking for help from the community whether that be volunteering time, fostering pets, or donating pet food to their food pantry.

The community cat program is a way the public can help to reduce the feral cat population. All the information for the program can be found here. Did you know they have barn cats for adoption with no fee? This is a great way to save a cat's life and provide them with food and shelter while they provide a great service to you—catching mice!

Monetary Donations are always welcome and help fund all the programs they offer in the community.
