The most anticipated event of the Statesboro calendar year is right around the corner. It’s the annual Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair! The fair will take place from Monday October, 17, to Saturday, October 22, 2022.

The Kiwanis Club of Statesboro has spiced things up for its 60th anniversary and moved the fair parade to a Saturday morning, instead of its normal Monday evening.

The Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Parade will take place on Saturday, October 15 at 10am, and per usual, it will start by Morris Bank on North Main Street and finish by Wendy’s restaurant on Fair Rd.

Lisa Turner, Kiwanis Fair committee chair, states that changing the fair parade date and time from Monday evenings to Saturday mornings will make attending the parade a more convenient and hassle-free occasion. Turner expects the date and time modification to increase both parade participation and attendance.

The intention of the parade is to give Statesboro locals and visitors a taste of the Statesboro scene. It aims to highlight the array of local delights that can be experienced when traveling through our small town.

The vendor deadline is noon on Monday October 10, and all local businesses and entities are invited to apply for participation in the parade.

If you plan on decorating your float according to this year’s theme, the theme will be “Truckloads of Fun For 60 Years!” So be creative in your approach to how you interpret this year’s theme, as cash prizes will be given out once the parade concludes and floats are judged. First through 5th place prizes will be given out, with 1st place winning $400 and 5th place winning $50.

Many kids and families look forward to the Kiwanis fair events each year. And with previous Kiwanis fairs having complications due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s fair is sure to suffice for all the fun times lost.

The Kiwanis Club Fair Committee has gathered numerous entertainment acts for its 60th year celebration, and they are positively thrilled for an eventful October month. So be sure to get out on Saturday morning, October 15, at 10am for a fun time as we celebrate and kick-off a great fair season!
